Over LAKSHMI
Lakshmi is songwriter en zangeres, bekend om haar vermogen om thema’s als activisme, persoonlijke groei en liefde te vangen in haar gelaagde, intieme muziek.
Haar passie voor kunst in al haar vormen klinkt niet alleen door in haar songs, maar wordt ook zichtbaar in haar beeldende muziekvideo’s, waarin surrealistische, sprookjesachtige werelden de betekenis van haar muziek versterken. Haar kenmerkende stem zweeft boven dreigende synthesizers en diepe, pulserende drums en creëert een unieke, betoverende sfeer.
Ze is thuis op poppodia, in theaters en op festivals, maar treedt net zo graag op in musea of bij klimaatprotesten. Haar liedjes kunnen fluisterintiem zijn met alleen piano, maar even goed groots en meeslepend met band of orkest — een weerspiegeling van haar veelzijdigheid als artiest.
Naast haar muzikale werk is Lakshmi een uitgesproken pleitbezorger voor meisjesrechten en klimaatactivisme. Als ambassadeur van Plan International zet ze zich in tegen seksueel geweld en ongelijkheid, en benadrukt ze de diepgaande verbondenheid tussen gendergelijkheid en de klimaatcrisis. Carrière
Er liggen intensieve en succesvolle jaren achter LAKSHMI. De afgelopen periode bracht ze meerdere singles uit, tourde ze langs poppodia en theaters, gaf ze een TED Talk over consumentisme en mentale gezondheid, en maakte ze een short-horrorfilm bij haar nummer All I Know.
Daarnaast was ze te zien in programma’s als Wie is de Mol? en De Gevaarlijkste Wegen, en vergezelde ze zangeres LP als support act tijdens een Europese tour.
Nu heeft LAKSHMI haar derde album voltooid. De releasedatum wordt binnenkort bekendgemaakt.
Busy and successful years lie behind LAKSHMI. In recent times, she released multiple singles, toured through pop venues and theatres, gave a TED Talk about consumerism and mental health, and created a short horror film for her song All I Know.
She also appeared in TV shows such as Wie is de Mol? and De Gevaarlijkste Wegen, and joined singer LP as a support act on a European tour.
